What are the 4 Qul in Islam?
In Islam, the 4 Quls refer to specific chapters (surahs) of the Quran known for their protective qualities. They are:
- Surah Al-Kafirun (The Disbelievers): Chapter 109, 6 Verses
- Surah Al-Ikhlas (The Purity): Chapter 112, 4 Verses
- Surah Al-Falaq (The Daybreak): Chapter 113, 5 Verses

Why are they called the 4 Quls?
These surahs are unique because they each start with the Arabic word “Qul” (meaning “Say“). This signifies the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) role as a messenger of divine messages.
Allah (SWT) would reveal these verses to him directly, and the Prophet (PBUH) would faithfully convey them to the people. Hence, they’re known as “the four Quls.”

Hadith on Surah Ikhlas and Kafirun
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:
النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ شَهْرًا فَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ {قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ} وَ {قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ}
“I watched the Prophet (SAW) for a month, and in the two Rak’ah before Fajr he used to recite: “Say: O you disbelievers!” [Al-Kafirun (109)] and “Say: Allah is One.” [Al- Ikhlas (112)]

Hadith On Surah Nas and Falaq
It was narrated that Narrated `Aisha:
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا اشْتَكَى يَقْرَأُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بِالْمُعَوِّذَاتِ وَيَنْفُثُ، فَلَمَّا اشْتَدَّ وَجَعُهُ كُنْتُ أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَمْسَحُ بِيَدِهِ رَجَاءَ بَرَكَتِهَا
“Whenever Allah’s Messenger (SAW) became sick, he would recite Mu’awwidhat (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An- Nas) and then blow his breath over his body. When he became seriously ill, I used to recite (these two Suras) and rub his hands over his body hoping for its blessings.”
