Rising fumaroles and boiling water! Tatsumaki Hell
If you want to go around by bus & on foot, start from Umi-Jigoku!
The seven hells are divided into two main areas: Umi-Jigoku Area and Blood Pond Hell Area. After visiting the two hells, walk down the Jigoku Meguri Dori (Hell Tour Street) for 5 minutes to Kamado Jigoku, and then walk 1 minute to Oniyama Jigoku and 2 minutes to Hakuike Jigoku. After visiting the five hells, walk down Miyuki Hill for about 4 minutes to the bus stop "Kannawa" and take the "Kamegawa-bound" bus for about 10 minutes to the bus stop "Kukono-ike Jigoku-mae".
Enjoy a unique hell!
Each of the "jigoku" (hells), where hot water, fumaroles, and mud erupt, has different characteristics: the cool cobalt-blue Sea Hell; Onishihoboju Hell, where the rising hot mud looks like a monk's head; Kamado Hell, where you can enjoy six hells from 1-6 chome; Oniyama Hell, where there are many crocodiles; Shiraike Hell, where the milky white water and Japanese garden are beautiful; and Tatsumaki Hell, where the fumaroles and hot water erupt at regular intervals. The time of eruption of geysers and Tatsumaki Jigoku (Tatsumaki Hell) is about 5 to 6 minutes per eruption at regular intervals.

Full of fun unique to hell
In 2009, the Beppu Jigoku Meguri (Hell Tour) was designated as one of Beppu's "Hells of Beppu," with Sea Hell, Blood Pond Hell, Tatsumaki Hell, and Shiraike Hell designated as national scenic beauty spots. Speaking of fun, one should not forget about gourmet foods, such as "Jigoku Steamed and Grilled Plin", "Ishigaki Manju", and "Onsen Pitan", all of which are made from the hot springs of the hells, "Blood Pond Ointment" from Blood Pond Hell, and "Enno-Ike Ointment", a bath salt from Umi-Jigoku. Don't miss souvenirs only available in Hell, such as "Blood Pond Ointment" from Blood Pond Hell and "Enman-no-Yu" bath salts from Umi Jigoku.
Kamado Oni, the symbol of Kamado Hell, where steam of 100 degrees Celsius erupts from between the rocks.
There is also a corner in Kamado Jigoku where you can drink hot spring water of 80 degrees Celsius!
If you want to visit hell, purchase a "Hell Tour Common Ticket"!
